Este trabajo analiza la participación política y ciudadana de los jóvenes y las jóvenes en el Estado Nuevo León, México. Para ello se abordan elementos clave como la construcción de ciudadanía en México y particularmente en esta entidad federal, así como la política pública social hacia el sector juvenil. Se parte del concepto de participación como toda acción colectiva de individuos orientada a la satisfacción de determinados objetivos, y de política pública como las acciones gubernamentales producto de una agenda pública emanada de las demandas ciudadanas. Para los efectos de este trabajo, son los jóvenes, las jóvenes, la participación y la política pública, los conceptos orientadores, por lo que los aspectos institucionales de ellos y ellas son importantes para el análisis. De allí entonces que el objetivo del artículo sea mostrar una aproximación del nivel de articulación de la participación tanto política como ciudadana de este sector de la sociedad con las políticas públicas sociales juveniles de Nuevo León.
