Abstract
La mémoire, en particulier celle de l'enfance, est construite ici comme un élément déterminant du selfhood, donc de la constitution de l'identité et du soi. Selon l'hypothèse de Dumont sur la rupture avec le passé et la discontinuité historique dans la société québécoise, la problématique de la mémoire s'inscrit dans une trame historique qui instaure deux temporalités irréductibles l'une à l'autre. Passé dépassé et présent véridique, les contemporains ont raison du simple fait qu'ils existent à l'époque actuelle et sont donc à la pointe du progrès. Comment passe-t-on de la construction du soi aux temporalités de la mémoire sociale ? Ce texte fera travailler cette problématique de la mémoire sur un corpus d'entretiens que l'on ne considère pas d'habitude comme une mémoire : le rapport à l'enfance, la façon dont elle est racontée. Je soumets l'hypothèse que le rapport à l'enfance est d'abord affaire de mémoire, surtout d'oblitération de la mémoire.
