Abstract
Este artigo tem como proposito apresentar os primeiros resultados de uma investigacao comparativa entre os dispositivos de pensao social em Portugal e no Brasil (BPC). Privilegia-se a experiencia e situacao portuguesa, tracando um quadro geral da institucionalizarao, situacao actual e significacao social e politica da Pensao Social em Portugal enquanto minimo social. Neste sentido a comunicacao focaliza-se: a) no percurso historico da atribuicao da pensao social em Portugal; b) no padrao e filosofia de regulacao social proporcionado aos cidadaos beneficiarios; c) na relevância e impacte orcamental da pensao social enquanto programa de proteccao social nao contributivo.
