Dans le cadre d’une étude d’impact environnemental et social, un inventaire de micromammifères a été réalisé, en août 2014, à l’extrémité nordique de la péninsule d’Ungava, au Nunavik. Trois espèces ont été capturées à l’aide de pièges-trappes, soit le lemming d’Ungava ( Discrostonyx hudsonius ), le campagnol des champs ( Microtus pennsylvanicus ) et le campagnol-lemming boréal ( Synaptomys borealis ). Les spécimens de campagnol-lemming boréal représentent les mentions publiées les plus nordiques pour cette espèce au Québec. La précédente mention la plus septentrionale était située à 311 km de la mention la plus nordique de la présente étude.
