Abstract
Les opiaces occupent encore de nos jours une place preponderante dans le traitement de la douleur. Leurs effets benefiques sont souvent limites par leurs effets secondaires. Parmi ces derniers, la constipation est frequemment en cause. Elle est l’une des nombreuses consequences de la dysfonction du tractus intestinal induite par les opiaces. Non maitrisee, la constipation peut entrainer certaines complications telles que l’obstruction intestinale menant a des douleurs abdominales, des nausees, des vomissements et a une mauvaise absorption des medicaments. Ces complications ont pour consequence de nuire a la qualite de vie des patients en plus de prolonger la duree d’hospitalisation. Les moyens pharmacologiques et non pharmacologiques traditionnels s’averent souvent insuffisants; d’autres avenues therapeutiques sont alors a explorer.
