Abstract
L’idée d’une recomposition politique et identitaire dans un Québec désormais pluraliste habite la pensée politique du Québec contemporain. Gérard Bouchard a proposé une refondation identitaire à la faveur de laquelle la souveraineté trouverait une signification nouvelle avec la redéfinition plus large et plus inclusive du sujet historique canadien-français. Dans une autre perspective, Jocelyn Létourneau récuse le volontarisme de Bouchard en invoquant le fait que devrait être assumée « l’ambivalence d’être » des Québécois qui les rend réfractaires aux positions politiques trop affirmées. Au-delà de leurs divergences fondamentales, ces thèses se rejoignent dans une certaine mésestimation des pesanteurs communautaristes de la conscience historique francophone, la première pour mieux abolir une mémoire trop étroitement associée au vécu canadien-français, la seconde pour évacuer l’idée de projet politique.
