Abstract
Dans cet article, les auteurs présentent une problématique de recherche qui vise à opérationnaliser la notion de santé mentale dans le contexte actuel du chômage. Conçu comme un espace social et personnel, le chômage est analysé en fonction de l'absence de caractéristiques ou conséquences latentes reliées à l'emploi. En dépit du fait que le chômage, à l'instar de l'emploi, fournit des catégories universelles d'expérience, il existe des différences individuelles dans le vécu du non-emploi. Dans cette perspective, la notion de santé mentale se définit comme l'organisation dynamique dans la personne en chômage de cinq dimensions: l'identité, l'actualisation de soi, l'intégration, l'autonomie et la maîtrise de l'environnement. En dernier lieu, les auteurs proposent un cadre d'analyse pluridisciplinaire de la santé mentale des chômeurs et chômeuses d'un milieu social et culturel précis.
