Abstract
En 1939, con la invasion alemana de Polonia, estallo la Segunda Guerra Mundial, confl icto que cobro millones de vidas, pero que tambien trastorno profundamente la percepcion que se tenia sobre diferentes topicos. Si bien es cierto que en America solo Estados Unidos, Mexico, Canada y Brasil enviaron tropas a los frentes de combate europeos, tambien lo es que en paises neutrales como Chile, la guerra provoco una dramatica division de opiniones que llevo a un profundo antagonismo entre “neutralistas” y “beligerantes”. En este contexto emerge una particular vision del elemento extranjero en Chile, a traves de los informes Zinger y Martinez de 1942, mostrando un arquetipo de lo aleman como un elemento perjudicial para la seguridad interior del Estado chileno, y capaz de convertir a Chile en base de ataque para los intereses aliados en America Latina
