Com um cenário bastante favorável, a expansão das áreas cultivadas com cana-de-açúcar no Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul tem tomado dimensões significativas na produção, o que torna importante o estudo de indicadores de produção dessa cultura em diversos níveis territoriais do Estado. Diante desse cenário, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a produção de cana-de-açúcar nos principais municípios produtores de Mato Grosso do Sul através de indicadores de produção de dados oficiais no período de 2003 a 2011. Foram utilizados dados oficiais de estimativa do LSPA/IBGE de área colhida - AC (ha), área colhida relativa - ACR (%) produção - PR (t) e produtividade média - PRM (t ha-1) em diferentes níveis territoriais (mesorregiões, microrregiões e municípios) com produção significativa de cana-de-açúcar. Na análise de agrupamento, os municípios foram tipificados quanto a AC, ACR, PR e PRM. Pela análise conjunta do agrupamento, os grupos classificados como alto e médio se assemelham ao zoneamento agroecológico da cana-de-açúcar. Através da análise de regressão a mesorregião sudoeste (MES-SU) e a microrregião de Dourados (MIC-DO) são os níveis territoriais que apresentam crescimento da PRM no período da caracterização.
