Le musicologue et compositeur Ramon Pelinski étudie les propos de Kagel sur son œuvre Exotica du point de vue des stratégies compositionnelles, des structures et des attitudes perceptives qu’elle déclenche. Adoptant résolument le point de vue du postmodernisme et de l’actualisme, l’auteur traque les ambiguïtés de l’utilisation kagelienne de la musique « exotique » et analyse en détail quelle attitude elle implique quant à la conception de l’Autre
