Abstract
This chapter is concerned with the relationships between news media and the framing of urban diversity. Avoided is a conventional story about the influence of elite groups or institutions on media, and likewise avoided is an anatomy of media representation. Instead, the chapter takes an alternative look at mediated imaginations of and claims to urban diversity by focusing on the enactment of journalism work and its taking place amongst organizational settings. The practical setting focused on is editorial work at the Toronto Star, Canada's largest newspaper by readership, and the dominant metropolitan newspaper in Toronto.
