roman, La Riviere sans repos, de Gabrielle Roy est centre autour d’un viol, topos courant dans le naturalisme litteraire, puisque la representation de l’acte pulsionnel est un des enjeux cles de ce mouvement. Le viol, par un G.I., du personnage principal, une jeune fille inuit nommee Elsa Kumachuk, est d’autant plus emblematique du naturalisme, qu’il apparait comme la revelation brutale d’une circonstance fortuite ou l’homme redevient “bete”...Ce viol d’Elsa, dans la perspective naturaliste qui interesse notre etude, declenche tout un engrenage deterministe convoquant une vision entropique du monde. L’evenement qui enclenche la serie de causes a effets afferente a l’entropie dans ce roman, est la naissance d’un enfant blond aux yeux bleus, traits physiques que lui a legues son pere americain, et qui servent de contrepoids a l’ascendance metisse de sa mere.
