Abstract
Un des faits marquants de la scène publique du tournant du millénaire aura été d’avoir assisté à « la transformation du prototype de la putain ou prostituée en sujet historique », selon les mots de Gail Pheterson. C’est à cet égard l’auto-organisation des prostituées, redéfinies comme « travailleuses du sexe », et leur participation au débat public qui ont provoqué ce renversement de perspective. Cette auto-organisation a permis l’émergence de nouveaux sujets politiques. Ces actrices sociales font cependant face à une fin de non-recevoir de la part d’une frange du mouvement féministe, la frange abolitionniste, qui est celle qui exprime le plus clairement ses positions en la matière. Cet article met en évidence certaines formes prises ces dernières années par cette fin de non-recevoir essuyée par le groupe d’aide et de soutien aux travailleuses du sexe de Montréal, Stella. L’auteure soulève ensuite certaines questions que pose ce rejet, au double plan de l’exercice d'une citoyenneté active et de la capacité d’ouverture du féminisme à l’hétérogénéité des réalités vécues par des femmes, parmi les plus marginalisées et stigmatisées.
