Abstract
La vraie nature du Nouveau Travaillisme, tel qu'il apparaît après les élections victorieuses de 1997, pose problème. Il est certainement différent du travaillisme historique, mais ce qui le distingue du répertoire conservateur semble moins évident. L'article donne à penser que, derrière des continuités apparentes, ses objectifs et sa philosophie générale diffèrent profondément de ceux des Conservateurs. Au plan des idées, la responsabilité, l'égalité des chances et le partenariat comme méthode constituent les trois piliers de la troisième voie. Ils permettent de donner un sens nouveau à l'héritage des Conservateurs et sous-tendent des politiques sociales renouvelées, fondées sur l'idée que l'accès au travail salarié est déterminante pour l'intégration sociale.
