Abstract
Pointe St-Charles est un quartier du sud-ouest de la ville de Montréal qui comporte plus d'une caractéristique des milieux à forte morbidité : un niveau de vie économique faible, des taux élevés de chômage et d'assistance sociale, des mauvaises conditions de logement, une pollution marquée, une carence d'espaces verts et de loisirs organisés, et une dépopulation rapide (27 000 résidents en 1951 : 16 000 en 1976). C'est en raison de ces caractéristiques qu'un groupe d'étudiants en médecine de l'Université McGill choisissait ce quartier, dès 1968, pour y mettre sur pied une clinique de santé au service de la classe ouvrière.
