L’article présente un témoignage personnel/professionnel du développement de la Gestalt-thérapie au Québec depuis le début des années 1970. Dans un premier temps, il met en relief les principaux éléments présentés par l’Ecole du Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. Il expose ensuite certaines remises en question formulées au cours des deux dernières décennies où les auteurs ont insisté sur la nécessité de revoir les assises philosophiques de la Gestalt-thérapie et la mise en valeur de la relation dialogique continue. Les nouvelles avenues tendent à expliciter des dimensions restées embryonnaires dans la théorie de base comme la dimension corporelle, une vision du Soi-dans-le-champ en prolongement de l’unité organisme/environnement ainsi qu’une nouvelle perpective du développement psychologique de l’enfant inspirée des plus récentes recherches et théories. Après avoir souligné la souplesse de la théorie gestaltiste, la conclusion souligne les pièges que cette flexibilité engendre.
