Abstract
El artículo explora la importancia del intérprete como vector de distinción entre los derechos lingüísticos y los derechos de acceso a los servicios públicos en el contexto canadiense. En los primeros, se analiza el caso concreto de la lengua empleada durante los procedimientos judiciales y la consagración del empleo directo de las lenguas oficiales del país, frente a los segundos, en los que el acceso a cualquiera de los tipos de servicios públicos esenciales debe hacerse por medio de un intérprete. Para demostrar esta distinción, se analiza la jurisprudencia canadiense en materia de lengua empleada durante los juicios, así como el modo de funcionamiento de los bancos de intérpretes en Quebec.
