Certains ouvrages narratifs de l’époque contemporaine sont hantés par des ombres errantes.
 Figures de lettrés en quête de repos éternel, elles ont trouvé auprès de deux écrivains anglais et
 français les porte-voix pour dire la souffrance tue de leur mort. Peter Ackroyd dans Chatterton et
 Le Testament d’Oscar Wilde ainsi que Pascal Quignard dans Albucius et La Raison leur créent à
 cet effet une maison de mots taillée dans les feuillets du livre.
