El presente estudio explora el rendimiento de adultos con síndrome de Asperger (SA) en tres tareas lingüísticas con un componente pragmático; a saber, comprensión de actos de habla indirectos, de metáforas y de cláusulas con coerción exocéntrica. Empleando secciones pertinentes de la versión en español del Protocolo para la Evaluación de la Comunicación de Montréal, MEC (Ferreres et al., 2007), y el test de coerción aspectual de Reyes (2012), se comparan el rendimiento de sujetos con SA (N=5) y el de neurotípicos (N=5). Los resultados muestran diferencias en el comportamiento de los adultos con SA y los neurotípicos. Estas parecen obedecer a que, en los primeros, la información contextual no influye positivamente en la comprensión. Se plantea que la diferencia entre ambos grupos podría obedecer a un déficit en la operación del principio de relevancia en los adultos con SA. Los resultados son concordantes con tres de las teorías neurocognitivas que caracterizan el SA: la teoría hipersistematizante, la de coherencia central débil y, de modo más indirecto, la de déficit en la teoría de la mente.
