L’aménagement linguistique au Nouveau-Brunswick reflète la situation sociolinguistique et sociopolitique des deux langues officielles. Dans l’espace du Grand Moncton, situé dans le Sud-Est de la province, le français est la langue minoritaire dans la ville de Moncton et la langue majoritaire dans la ville avoisinante de Dieppe. Cette étude, basée sur une recherche de terrain, vise à faire ressortir les représentations linguistiques de chacune des langues en analysant la langue d’affichage de plusieurs commerces à l’intérieur de marchés des fermiers de ces deux villes. La recherche montre que l’affichage bilingue tarde à s’imposer dans un espace où les idéologies linguistiques, à savoir que l’anglais est symboliquement majoritaire, semblent être encore très ancrées dans l’imaginaire collectif.
