Abstract

En s'appuyant sur un certain nombre d'apports scientifiques et théoriques récents de la sociologie du curriculum, l'auteur analyse certaines caractéristiques structurelles et culturelles des savoirs scolaires dans les sociétés contemporaines. La réflexion porte successivement sur les mécanismes de la sélection opérée au sein de la culture en vue de la constitution des programmes scolaires, sur les effets de la contrainte didactique et sur les traits originaux de la culture scolaire, sur la structuration des savoirs scolaires sous forme de territoires disciplinaires compartimentés, sur les phénomènes de stratification et de légitimation sociale de ces savoirs. Enfin, la question est posée de savoir si une telle approche analytique et critique du curriculum implique nécessairement une conception relativiste de la connaissance et de la culture ou peut rester compatible avec l'exigence proprement pédagogique d'une justification intellectuelle et culturelle "normative" des contenus d'enseignement.
