Abstract
La centralidad de la cuestion de la territorialidad en el debate sobre el derecho de autodeterminacion que reclama el nacionalismo hace especialmente pertinente adoptar una perspectiva comparada con el fin de mostrar las similitudes y particularidades de distintos casos de estudio. El articulo propone una comparacion entre el nacionalismo vasco y el quebequense atendiendo a las transformaciones de la identidad nacional y al papel que en ellos desempena la cuestion de la territorialidad. Tras mostrar los inconvenientes que plantean las categorias etnico/ cificas como punto de partida para encasillar a estos nacionalismos, se da cuenta de la pertinencia y de las potencialidades de esta comparacion, y de los terminos que la hacen significativa. El interes se centra en comparar en ambos casos la representacion del «territorio nacional», el papel que este juega en la identidad nacional, la forma en que se ha relacionado y se relaciona con otros rasgos diacriticos, la vinculacion que en ambos casos se da entre integridad territorial y soberania y, por ultimo, el «papel politico» que el nacionalismo reserva al territorio para alcanzar la soberania.
