Abstract
The paper is devoted to the problem of quarter-tone music in theoretical publications of N. Kulbin and music of A. Lourie, which is considered by the author through the reflection of the categories imaginable and sounding. In particular, the basis of Kulbins imaginable is the theoretical justification of tone quarters and his sounding is formed by practical realisation of the quarter-tone music idea, which was viewed by Kulbin in terms of recording, performing and listening. In A. Louries creation the imaginable was a reflection of the figurative content of a quarter-tone piece; the sounding was embodied in notation of higher chromaticism.
