Abstract
Cet article analyse un pèlerinage transfrontalier, effectué annuellement par des populations mayas tojolabal du Mexique au Guatemala. Au-delà de la vénération d’un dieu de la pluie et d’un rite agricole nécessaire à la survie de ces populations d’agriculteurs, ce groupe construit ou plutôt reconstruit son identité sur la base de la migration. Ces pèlerins s’associent temporairement à un autre groupe d’agriculteurs métis avant de rentrer en contact avec un autre groupe maya guatémaltèque, les Chuj. Le parcours effectué et la vénération symbolique du territoire permettent aux Tojolabal de mettre en relief leurs origines mythiques guatémaltèques tout en affirmant leur identité actuelle frontalière, chiapanèque et dans une moindre mesure mexicaine.
