A seguito della sentenza Laval della Corte di Giustizia del dicembre 2007, i sindacati svedesi, responsabili di un'azione collettiva tesa ad ostacolare pratiche di social dumping adoperate da un prestatore di servizi straniero, sono stati condannati al risarcimento dei punitive damages. Tale vicenda ha dato avvio ad un processo di revisione della normativa svedese, culminato con l'adozione della legge cd. Laval che ha posto rilevanti limiti all'autonomia collettiva e al conflitto, vietando altresě le azioni collettive nei confronti di imprese estere vincolate da un contratto collettivo stipulato nel proprio Paese d'origine con le organizzazioni sindacali locali.
