Cet article étudie les relations entre les familles et l'école à partir du cas particulier et extrême de parents immigrants analphabètes. Il met en évidence des malentendus entre ces familles et l'institution scolaire à propos du type de participation attendue des parents et du poids relatif des fonctions de scolarisation et de socialisation assignées à l'école.
