Abstract
L’objectif de cet article est d’analyser la participation des femmes à la scène politique électorale, en étudiant les valeurs et les symboles utilisés en tant qu’emblèmes de campagne. En prenant comme référence empirique la campagne électorale de 1996 des candidates à la mairie de trois villes du Nordeste brésilien, il s’agit d’analyser les symboles et les valeurs qui font allusion aux rôles féminins pendant cette période. On y mobilise des valeurs universelles qui se réfèrent aux rôles féminins conventionnels et des valeurs acquises par les femmes lors de la participation à divers espaces politiques. Cela démontre quelles sont les stratégies utilisées pour la reconnaissance des femmes dans un champ politique traditionnellement caractérisé par la présence masculine.
