La recherche dont les auteurs nous présentent ¡ci quelques éléments avait un double objectif : d'une part, élaborer une théorie du pouvoir dans les organisations, fondée sur une étude empirique approfondie de deux organisations. D'autre part, identifier les caractéristiques spécifiques du pouvoir dans l'organisation hypermoderne, dont le prototype est la multinationale. Cette recherche utilisa, en outre, comme instrument de recherche un séminaire de formation sur le thème " Moi et mon organisation", où furent employées, à côté de méthodes verbales classiques, différentes techniques non verbales. Le but de ce séminaire était, notamment grâce aux techniques non verbales, d'avoir plus directement accès aux fantasmes collectifs concernant l'organisation, d'autre part, de pouvoir observer des comportements de groupe. C'est cette partie de la recherche dont rend compte le texte présenté ici. Les auteurs montrent Yubiquité des phénomènes du pouvoir, qui se manifestent sur une série de dimensions liées les unes aux autres. Elle conduit à abandonner les représentations naïves du pouvoir comme assignables à des personnes ou des groupes de personnes. Elle envisage le pouvoir comme un système s'inscrivant sur un quadruple registre de coordonnées, économique, politique, idéologique et psychologique.
