Abstract
On a pointé çà et là des affinités manifestes entre les pratiques de la poésie et du roman chez Élise Turcotte, sans pour autant interroger leur portée constitutive dans l’écriture elle-même. La proximité chronologique et thématique des recueils de poésie La voix de Carla (1987) et La terre est ici (1989) avec le roman Le bruit des choses vivantes (1991) permet ici d’examiner sous un jour nouveau la porosité des frontières entre les deux genres dans l’oeuvre, en posant qu’une part importante de la subjectivité s’exprime spécifiquement dans le passage entre le poétique et le romanesque. Or, afin de conceptualiser ce passage, il nous faut considérer le statut que réserve l’écriture à une troisième notion dont l’importance est incontestable chez Turcotte : l’image.
