Cette etude visait a evaluer l’effet moderateur du sentiment de competence et du sexe des eleves dans la relation entre le climat motivationnel et l’adoption de buts de maitrise en education physique. Pour ce faire, nous avons interroge 640 eleves de 11 ecoles secondaires francophones au moyen de questionnaires composes d’items auto-reveles. Les resultats des regressions multiples indiquent que les buts de maitrise entretiennent une relation positive avec le sentiment de competence et le climat de maitrise. Les deux interactions avec le climat de maitrise se sont averees significatives, ce qui signifie que ce climat influence positivement l’adoption de buts de maitrise par les eleves ayant un faible sentiment de competence et par les garcons. Ces resultats suggerent que les enseignants d’education physique devraient mettre en place un tel climat afin de motiver les garcons et les eleves peu confiants quant a leurs capacites dans cette discipline.
