Abstract
- La tragedia dell'11 settembre ha drammaticamente posto all'attenzione del mondo il tema del terrorismo internazionale e della modalitŕ con cui contrastarlo. A otto anni di distanza da quei fatti appare possibile interrogarsi sui risultati conseguiti, cercando di verificare se le scelte adottate dalle democrazie occidentali abbiano comportato, e in che misura, strappi insopportabili alle regole su cui esse si reggono. Si sono confrontate-scontrate, in questi anni, diverse filosofie riconducibili a due principali filoni di pensiero: da un lato, quello dei Paesi anglosassoni (Stati Uniti, Gran Bretagna, Canada e, in parte, Australia), dall'altro quello dei Paesi dell'Europa continentale, all'interno dei quali, soprattutto nel periodo immediatamente successivo all'11 settembre, non sono perň mancate le concessioni alle teorizzazioni e alle prassi anglosassoni. Solo recentemente, grazie al cambio dell'amministrazione statunitense, sembra che la comunitŕ internazionale stia recuperando la ragione e tornando a praticare le regole minime di ogni democrazia.
