Abstract
À l’instar des approches constructivistes et phénoménologiques du genre, l’amour romantique est conceptualisé comme une production genrée institutionnelle, interactionnelle et individuelle. Dans nos sociétés où l’amour est le critère fondamental de légitimation du couple, produire quotidiennement de l’amour est un accomplissement performatif et émotionnel, inévitable et nécessaire, qui puise son sens et sa validation dans ses dimensions institutionnelles. Par leurs significations culturelles considérées comme antinomiques avec les valeurs amoureuses, les échanges économiques au sein de couples suisses et québécois sont particulièrement illustratifs des processus sociaux de construction de l’amour. Cette perspective pluridimensionnelle, qui tente de fédérer différentes approches de l’amour romantique, propose également une perspective unifiée de l’amour et du pouvoir en montrant comment le premier offre les conditions de possibilité du second.
