Abstract
Cet article propose une traduction du manifeste du néoacadémisme, un mouvement influent de l’art russe contemporain. Celle-ci est accompagnée d’un commentaire, permettant de situer ce manifeste dans le contexte historique spécifique de la Russie postsoviétique, puis de constater que la stratégie discursive adoptée par l’artiste dans cet écrit manifestaire reflète un changement significatif de la structure du champ artistique, ayant évolué par rapport à celle des avant-gardes de la première moitié du XX e siècle. Le manifeste ne consiste plus, ici, en un programme universaliste, faisant la promotion d’innovations esthétiques ou d’idéologies artistiques, mais en une déclaration des frontières territoriales d’un groupe d’artistes, qui se rassemble autour du concept de « beau classique », incarné par le patrimoine historique et culturel de Saint-Pétersbourg. Novikov ne se réfère plus aux autres programmes artistiques, mais surtout à l’État, ce dernier étant considéré comme un soutien indispensable pour l’institutionnalisation du mouvement artistique.
