Abstract
Cet article, fondé sur l’exploitation d’entretiens réalisés avec des conjoints ayant formé un nouveau couple à l’âge de la retraite, cherche à déterminer dans quelle mesure un nouveau « Soi intime » se révèle au cours de ces recompositions conjugales tardives. L’analyse porte successivement sur les sentiments pour le nouveau partenaire et sur l’organisation de la nouvelle vie conjugale. Elle montre, d’une part, que le contexte émotionnel de la nouvelle relation est plus souvent celui de la quiétude que celui de l’exaltation amoureuse et, d’autre part, que la nouvelle vie conjugale est marquée par la fidélité à soi et à son passé. Aussi la stabilité identitaire prévaut-elle, en général, sur la transformation du Soi intime.
