La révolution cubaine se trouve confrontée depuis plus d’une décennie à de profonds changements sociaux, économiques et politiques liés à l’insertion toujours plus grande de l’île à l’économie de marché global à la suite de la chute du bloc socialiste. Alors que plusieurs études avancent que Cuba s’engage à son tour dans une période de « transition », une analyse anthropologique de ce contexte révèle un scénario plus complexe. À l’aide de l’examen des nouvelles formes de gouvernance étatique en matière de santé et de recherche universitaire sur l’environnement, ainsi que des pratiques informelles des sujets, cet article analyse comment, à travers l’insertion de nouvelles formes de capital, ces politiques visent à maintenir et à reproduire l’idéologie socialiste dans les institutions locales et les pratiques individuelles quotidiennes en forgeant chez les individus un sentiment identitaire (lerevolucionario) en accord avec la rationalité de la gouvernance socialiste. Cependant, ces politiques sont interprétées et transformées par les sujets de manière à répondre à leurs besoins immédiats dans un contexte de pénurie. Ces réponses aux politiques suggèrent que l’identité révolutionnaire cubaine dans le contexte postsoviétique est complexe et parfois contradictoire. Cet article s’inscrit dans un questionnement de la construction du sujet socialiste à Cuba, ouvrant de nouvelles avenues pour penser la « transition » et le postsocialisme.
