Abstract
In the first part, this article proposes an analysis of the critical discourse produced by intellectuals in Quebec's universities about Canadian multiculturalism. The second part concerns an alternative model, the Quebec model of interculturalism. Whereas the critical discourse on multiculturalism is often presented as an undifferentiated whole representing "Quebec's point of view," we have high-lighted the heterogeneity of such a discourse. It would be erroneous to assume that the critical discourse about multiculturalism can be reduced to the fragmentation thesis. A clear conclusion emerges from our findings: Quebec intellectuals' thoughts vary greatly depending on the authors and the various disciplinary traditions. This variation concerns the central concepts used in the analysis, the themes that receive most attention, and the theses that are elaborated. The same applies to the political projects that are explicit or implicit in such discourses.
