Cet article rappelle qu’à Paris Diderot, dans les années 1970, la création des premiers cours sur les femmes a rendu nécessaires les premières recherches et les premières productions de savoirs, puisque les femmes étaient absentes de l’histoire académique. Il fallait donc les rendre visibles et innover dans les sources et les méthodes pour créer des savoirs nouveaux. Très vite les chercheures sont passées de l’histoire des femmes à l’histoire du genre, affirmant qu’on ne peut pas faire l’histoire des femmes sans réfléchir à leur relation avec l’autre sexe. Ces historiennes ont développé leurs recherches en lien avec les sociologues, avec les études angloaméricaines et avec les historiennes américaines, en particulier celles qui travaillaient sur le champ français. L’article témoigne du caractère enthousiasmant de cette époque pionnière.
