Abstract
Résumé Cet article s’intéresse aux cartes postales (important média des premières années du xx e siècle) représentant les peuples d’Afrique de l’Ouest. Il étudie dans une première partie la construction de l’ethnicité et les représentations coloniales de l’indigène à travers les cartes de « types ». La seconde partie étudie les autres interprétations possibles de ces cartes postales qui révèlent également des histoires alternatives de l’Afrique et participent à la subversion du discours dominant de l’époque.
