Abstract
In this memoir, Tara Beagan remembers her relationship with Yvette Nolan, playwright and former Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts, and examines what it means to walk within the role of mentor – both for she who offers guidance, and for she who must learn, with humility and courage, to take that guidance up. As she moves from the role of mentee into the role of mentor herself, Beagan reflects on what it means to become an elder within the Indigenous theatre community in Canada and beyond – to guide the next generation of Indigenous artists, and to teach by continuing to learn.
