Abstract
La forêt feuillue du sud du Québec a été endommagée à divers degrés par le verglas de janvier 1998. Devant labsence de données sur leffet du verglas sur la production du bois doeuvre, une étude a été réalisée dans une érablière à bouleau jaune en Estrie. Létude analyse lampleur des dégâts dus au verglas ainsi que les pertes en volume et la croissance radiale de principales essences. Les résultats obtenus à laide des tableaux de contingence indiquent que seul le bouleau jaune a subi des dommages importants, alors que les autres essences (lérable à sucre, le frêne dAmérique et le hêtre à grandes feuilles) nont subi que des dommages légers. En ce qui concerne la croissance radiale des arbres, on note quelle présente une tendance à la baisse et les résultats ne permettent pas détablir un effet significatif du verglas sur cette baisse.
