Abstract
Plusieurs périodiques ont voulu répondre à de vraies questions d’actualité. Relations, dès 1941, se présente comme un « groupe d’hommes chrétiennement libres », se centre sur l’événement et l’actualité dans ses orientations éditoriales et définit son lectorat comme formé de citoyens libres. Cité libre, revue explicitement chrétienne créée en 1950, veut animer le débat en société et en Église. Maintenant, en 1962, veut susciter l’engagement social et ecclésial et se définit comme un périodique « fidèle à l’Église et loyal au monde ». L’Oratoire (années 1950-1960), dirigée par le père Émile Legault, crée l’événement dans les arts religieux (musique, peinture, littérature, théâtre) et innove en suscitant pendant un an une discussion de fond avec ses lecteurs. Ces revues ont une base commune : l’information comme condition de participation dans l’Église (Rapport Dumont, 1971) sur le fondement d’un « droit » à l’information (Jean XXIII 1963, Concile 1963, Paul VI 1964). Un objectif commun : animer une opinion publique dans l’Église.
