Abstract
Nous évaluons d’abord le déficit entre les générations et l’apport de l’immigration à chacune des populations provinciales francophones. Puis nous comparons le taux d’anglicisation des francophones immigrés à celui des francophones nés au Canada. Il en ressort qu’à l’extérieur du Nouveau-Brunswick, de l’est et du nord-est de l’Ontario, les immigrés francophones s’anglicisent très rapidement dès la première génération, au point d’alimenter davantage la population de langue anglaise que celle de langue française. Il conviendrait, par conséquent, de mieux cibler la politique canadienne d’immigration francophone en orientant cette denrée rare vers les populations francophones qui font preuve de la vitalité linguistique la plus grande, mais qui accusent les déficits intergénérationnels les plus importants en chiffres réels, soit celles du Québec, du Nouveau-Brunswick, de l’est et du nord-est de l’Ontario.
