Abstract
1x4 optical waveguide power splitters were fabricated in a fused silica glass sample using a focused 800<i>nm</i>-amplified femtosecond laser, and characterized in terms of their optical properties at the wavelength of 1550<i>nm</i>. A shifted multi-scan writing technique was developed to substantially reduce the excess loss of the involved Y junctions and the polarization dependent loss of such integrated splitters.
