Abstract
La recherche sur les enfants fut longtemps abordée à l'intérieur des domaines de la famille, de l'école, du loisir; seules la psychologie et les sciences de l'éducation considéraient l'enfant selon ses caractéristiques propres. Ce bilan sélectif de la recherche sociohistorique sur les enfants au Québec examine l'enfance à travers les études démographiques, historiques, ethnologiques, juridiques, sociologiques ainsi que les études sociales effectuées dans un contexte d'intervention. La multidisciplinarité de ce secteur de recherche sur les enfants, qui provient de la diversification des univers d'appartenance et d'expertise demande d'être complétée par des recherches explorant davantage le point de vue des enfants et par le recours à des approches mieux contextualisées de leur vie quotidienne et de leurs liens sociaux.
