Abstract
Se describe el esquema de selección aprobado para la Asociación Nacional de Criadores de Caprino de Raza Murciano Granadina. El esquema establece una organización piramidal de las ganaderías, clasificándolas en tres estratos: núcleo selectivo, segundo estrato y población no controlada. El desarrollo del mismo consta de tres fases: la primera es común a los dos primeros estratos por desarrollarse exclusivamente a nivel intra-rebaño, consistente en la selección de las madres de candidatos de futuros sementales. La segunda, también intra-rebaño, consiste en la evaluación individual de los candidatos a futuro semental. En la tercera, las ganaderías de segundo estrato realizan una evaluación anual de sus sementales activos y de los nuevos candidatos; mientras que las ganaderías del núcleo selectivo pueden evaluar sus machos a nivel inter-rebaño al encontrarse conectadas genéticamente. Los objetivos selectivos se centran en mejorar la producción lechera, atendiendo a criterios de producción de leche, proteína y grasa en lactaciones de 210 y 240 días, además del morfotipo lechero.
