Cette étude démontre les mécanismes de la métacritique entendue ici comme la relation de commentaire unissant une oeuvre à d'autres textes. À partir de Giambatista Viko ,l'hypothèse est que, parmi les configurations sémantiques déployées par ce récit, celle de la quête de l'écriture subsume l'ensemble d'autres réseaux du texteAprès avoir établi le lien d'analogie entr ece récit et l'oeuvre du philosophe italien du XVIIIe siècle, Giambattista Vico, il s'agit d'étudier cette quête de l'écriture à partir de la narration adoptée et de l'esthétique valorisée par le roman.
