Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity of a Versatile Dinuclear Palladium β-Diiminate Complex
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The reaction of (Ph 2 nacnac)H (Ph 2 nacnac = [CH(C(CH 3 )NPh) 2 ] − ) with [PdCl 2 (C 6 H 5 CN) 2 ] in the presence of a base (KO t Bu) yields [Pd(Ph 2 nacnac)Cl] 2 ( 1 ) as an air- and moisture-stable solid. The dimeric structure in 1 has been confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. This complex has proven to be a useful starting material for the rich and novel Pd-nacnac chemistry. Thus, treatment of 1 with neutral monodentate ligands N -methyl-4,5-diphenylimidazole ( L1 ), 4- tert -butylaniline ( L2 ), and CO results in the scission of the chloride bridge and the formation of mononuclear Pd species [Pd(Ph 2 nacnac)Cl( L1 )] ( 2 ), [Pd(Ph 2 nacnac)Cl( L2 )] ( 3 ), and [Pd(Ph 2 nacnac)Cl(CO)] ( 4 ), respectively. The reaction of 1 with an oxidant PhI(OAc) 2 produces a novel homobimetallic complex [{Pd(Ph 2 nacCl)} 2 (μ-OAc) 2 ] ( 5 ) (Ph 2 nacCl = [ClC(C(CH 3 )NPh) 2 ] − ), resulting from the oxidation of coordinated nacnac ligand rather than the Pd(II) metal center. In the presence of 6 equiv of CuCl complex 1 reacts with 4 equiv of L1 to afford a novel heteromultinuclear complex {[Pd(Ph 2 nacnac)( L1 ) 2 ] 2 (μ-Cu 6 Cl 8 )} ( 6 ).

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
