Afin de mieux saisir la réalité de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage d’une troisième langue (L3) dans le contexte bilingue canadien, notre recherche a comme objectif une meilleure connaissance aussi bien des besoins des enseignants de langues étrangères (ou « internationales », pour reprendre l’appellation utilisée dans le contexte scolaire au Canada) œuvrant dans la province d’Ontario que des ressources à leur disposition. Des résultats préliminaires obtenus en 2009 et publiés en 2011 sont ici complétés par les résultats obtenus en 2010 dans le cadre d’une réplique de la collecte de données, enrichie par une analyse qualitative d’entretiens enregistrés dans le cadre de rencontres individuelles et de groupes de discussion. Les résultats préliminaires ont favorisé une meilleure compréhension des « programmes de langues internationales » de l’Ontario et préparé l’étude subséquente plus poussée auprès de divers conseils scolaires (entités responsables de l’éducation) ontariens.
