Abstract
Consacré aux auteures et aux critiques de la littérature « féministe » de l’Afrique francophone subsaharienne, cet article revient sur les controverses dont cette littérature a fait l’objet. Le féminisme, originaire de l’Occident, a une connotation négative en Afrique parce qu’il s’accorde mal avec les réalités de ce continent. Les écrivaines africaines qui adoptent le féminisme comme une voie possible de libération de la femme africaine, de son écriture et de son corps doivent faire face à la censure du lecteur/critique qui lui-même conditionne leurs écrits et les force à s’engager dans un processus perpétuel de négociations discursives. Malgré la controverse qui entoure cette écriture, les écrivaines et les critiques féministes africaines s’entendent pour dire que le mouvement féministe est porteur de valeurs socioculturelles proprement occidentales. Aussi faut-il faire preuve de beaucoup de circonspection lorsqu’on applique les théories féministes aux textes de la littérature africaine.
