Abstract
INTRODUCTION Massey University at Palmerston North, New Zealand, has been educating veterinarians in its BVSc degree program since 1964, when the first 32 students were selected into the second year of the degree. These students finished their studies in 1967 and graduated in 1968. Since then, Massey University graduates have provided veterinary services in the private and public sectors in New Zealand and also have gone on to positions of influence and leadership in the profession throughout the world. The BVSc degree from Massey University is the only university course offering a veterinary degree in New Zealand. It has developed an international reputation for quality, based on the performance of its graduates in the diverse roles that have benefited from their veterinary education.
